Under the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), individuals (“data subjects”) may apply to companies (as data controllers) and exercise the following rights:
Right to Learn: Whether their personal data is being processed.
Right to Access: Information regarding their processed personal data.
Right to Purpose Inquiry: The purpose of processing and whether the data is used in line with that purpose.
Right to Know Third Parties: The recipients of their personal data, whether inside or outside Turkey.
Right to Rectification: Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate personal data.
Right to Erasure/Destruction: Request deletion or destruction of personal data.
Right to Notification: Request that any rectification, deletion, or destruction be communicated to third parties to whom the data has been transferred.
Right to Object: Object to decisions made solely through automated processing that produce results against the data subject.
Right to Compensation: Claim compensation for damages caused by unlawful processing of personal data.
According to the law, companies must respond to such applications within 30 days at the latest.
